Exhibition "Maria Callas Forever..."

Theexhibition dedicated to the creative work of the legendary singer Maria Callastookplace in St. Petersburg attheSheremetevsky palace.

The wife of the President of Russia Svetlana Medvedeva, the President of the International Maria Callas Cultural Association BrunoTosi, the Honourable Consul of Russia in Milan Eligio Paties Montagner, the Consul General of Italy in St. Petersburg Luigi Estero, the Chairman of theTourist Department Marianna Ordjonikidze, the Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Relations Alexander Prokhorenko and others took part in the gala opening ceremony.

This exhibition was organized with the assistance of the Fund of Social and CulturaPlnitiatives, which is headed by Svetlana Medvedeva, and the International Maria Callas Cultural Association. It was held as a part of the second International Festival "Dyagilev.

The exhibits from the collection gathered by the International Maria Callas Cultural Association served as basis of the exhibition. 13 concert and evening dresses of the singer and her other personal belongings were presented to the visitors in two halls of the Sheremetevsky palace. Many things were bought by the Association at Sotheby's. The dress of the singer, in which she had been performing during her tour in Japan, became one of the attractions of the St. Petersburg exhibition. The opening of the exhibition ended with the concert of soloists of the Mariinsky Opera House, during which one could listen to fragments from the singer's favourite operas.
