Fishing in Kamchatka

Kamchatka is a part of the Pacific volcanic belt. With its 28 active and 160 dormant volcanoes predetermining the unique scenery, the peninsula has no rivals in Russia and only few ones in the world. It is a combination of Mars-like lava-field landscapes and hot mineral springs, fumaroles and geysers, awesome cones of fire-spitting mountains and lakes in huge round caldera basins formed by volcanic blasts. Kamchatka is one of the world’s few regions, where the nature has almost preserved its pristine wilderness, and where having climbed a volcano you may see the world as it used to be hundreds of years ago. Here in late summer swift rivers are churning because of the spawning salmon, and here also one can encounter life amongst the snows and absolute emptiness in summer time. The tundra berrying grounds stretch for kilometers; the berries’ size and abundance are really astonishing, but what impresses even more is a view of bears browsing in the tundra.

In addition to a float fishing trip on Kamchatka (or as a separate tour) you are welcome to book a one-day or longer sea fishing trip by ship with overnights on board or on the shore in tents. To angle for the Pacific halibut weighing up to 100 kg, you will need no less than 3, or better 5 days of ship rent. The rent price varies from 46 000 to 85 000 RUR per day including accommodation, meals, guides’ services and a motorboat.

To fish halibut you will need a spinning rod from 200 g., deep-water Pilker of 100-300 g., hooks up to 10/0 for bait, multiplier reels sized 200 (2000), better Japanese-made ones, and line suited to hold such a big fish.

We can supply you with all this.

To angle for smaller sea species, you may use fresh-water spinning rods. A possible fish catch can consist of lenok, various flounders, navaga, perch and others.

With the help of a diver or diving yourself you may pick up from the seabed crabs, sea-urchins, Cucumaria, trepangs, etc. and then try all these delicacies right away. As for diving tackles, you can either use your own or rent them on the spot.

Surely, the area is suitable for wonderful spearfishing.

Besides, during the water trip you will have a chance to see birds’ rookeries, nerpa seals and, probably, killer whales.

Optionally, we can include in your tour a visit to the Geyser Valley with a helicopter trip around volcanoes (+1.3-hour flight and excursion price) and/or thermal springs in Paratunka (with an overnight at a tourist lodge with thermal pools).
