Visiting Kazan, there are several sites of historical relevance for the city
not far away, and they are not to be missed: the island city of Sviyazhsk,
built by Ivan the Terrible as a powerful fortress; the Raifsky
Bogoroditsky Monastery, which now houses the miracle-working Georgian Mother
of God icon; the ancient city of Bulgar,
