Economic life of Rostov region

International Economic potential of Rostov Region is exactly connected to the historical past of that part of Russia . Even Greeks in 5 – 6 centuries B. C. were involved in trading with that region selling wine, olive oil, samples of art and buying bread, fish, leather, slaves. To support their trade in Don Land Tanais city was built.

Rostov Region carries out foreign trade operations with over 90 countries. Its products are being exported to more than 70 countries.

Our Foreign Trade partners are: Ukraine , Belorussia , Germany , Turkey , Italy , Greece , Netherlands , France and others.

Yearly foreign trade turnover comes up to 1 milliard US Dollars.

Rostov Region takes an active part in other spheres of International Economic cooperation. The Joint Stock Companies with foregn investment play big role in the region development . In 10 years their quantity grew up by 700. The number of investors from Turkey , Germany , USA , Bulgaria , Poland and Ukraine are growing.

Since 1992 Rostov Region successfully cooperates with the European Union taking part in realization of TASIS Program in: Human resources, industrial reconstruction, agriculture, transport , power engineering. Rostov is one of the 6th cities of Russia having TASIS official Office for regional government and public establishments’ support.
