Malbork

The High-Quality Tourist Services Zone

We have set ourselves the goal of creating a new image for Malbork through further development of its tourist attractions. Malbork will soon become a place where visitors will want to come for longer stays. With this aim in mind, the town authorities have designated a High-Quality Tourist Services Zone around the Malbork Castle.

The main undertakings involved in developing this zone are as follows:

  • construction of the Town Forum - a "new market square";
  • construction of a summer theatre;
  • development of the pedestrian area on ul. Kosciuszki;
  • development of the boulevards along the castle walls of the Old Town;
  • re-landscaping of the North Park;
  • renovation of the Old Town walls, with restoration of the historic features of the walls in the panorama of the town as seen from the river Nogat;
  • revitalifation of the layout of the Old Town.

The High-Quality Tourist Services Zone around Malbork Castle covers an area of approximately 170 ha in the immediate vicinity of the Castle Museum.

In the remainder of the Zone, areas will shortly be designated for developments which, in

view of their location, will be of interest even to the most demanding investors. Together with small cafts, restaurants, landing stages and water sports equipment rentals located along the banks of the Nogat, they will con-stitute a perfect place for citizens' and tourists' recreation.

Town Forum is a central element of the Zone and comprises:

  • Cultural-conference centre,
  • Business centre,
  • Hotel with highly developed recreation/sporting functions,
  • Catering (restaurants, bars),
  • Retail/service centre,
  • Art and artisans workshop,
  • Tourist Information Office open all year.

The location and the project characteristics mean that it is of such significance for the town. The project is to be realised by employing the method of public-private partnership and in particular the Company for Special Purposes (SSP), which is going to be established by the town and private investors.

We welcome all investors interested in real estate with a very attractive location close to Malbork Castle.

The trail of the Polish Gothic Castles

Malbork is the main attraction on the trail of Polish Gothic Castles. Starting with Bytow, through Gniew, Nowe, Kwidzyn, Sztum, Malbork, Ostroda, Nidzica, Olsztyn, Lidzbark Warmihski and Ryn, it is worth visiting the most interesting architectural medieval structures. In each of those towns you can find a frag¬ment of the castles' common history, spend the night within austere castle walls, watch the spectacles and shows of knights fighting, and in the evening discover corners of the building not available in the daytime and celebrate until morning with traditional Polish cuisine, old music and the scent of candles. To visit all the castles on the trail and to have an adventure stepping back to the times of swords, crossbows and axes fights, you only need a few days. You can get there by train, bicycle or car, and each castle will welcome the guest with the unique charm of the Middle Ages.
