Small capital of big chess game
In easy state of mind of journalists, Satka has unofficial status of Chess
capital.
Since 2002, in Satka the regional children-youthful chess school is operating
under the direction of the famous Russian grandmaster, Boris Spasskiy; he is
the tenth world chess champion, nowadays the citizen of France. In all kindergartens
and primary schools of Satka district, chess game became an obligatory subject.
The projects «Chess-general education*) and «Chess for the general development))
were implemented - they have allowed to involve 2,5 thousand children to the
regular chess classes.
The program «Anatoly Karpov's School» is successfully realized in boarding-schools.
Summer profile chess classes will be organized in children's health-educational
centres, where young chess players have a rest, trained, strengthen the health.
Today the chess team of the city accounts 11 trainers and more than 400 players
and has victories in the championships of different levels in its arsenal -
from the city to the world. So, in July 2008, mentee of Evgeny Somkin became
owners of a silver Cup in the World championship among school teams in Pardubice
city (Czech Republic); and in May, 2009 the command of young chess players from
Satka has won on the Olympiad of International Chess Games "Children of
Chernobyl")
There are regional, national, international chess tournaments spend in the city.
In an active of the city chess club «Vertical» such big events, as IV Memorial
of Michael Botvinnik, the Russian Games among chess game learners, festival
of intellectual games «Satka spring».
In 2008 the summer chess festival has passed devoted to the 250 anniversary
of the city. Participation in it was accepted by six hundreds chess players
from Russia, Germany, France, the USA, Latvia, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan.
As a part of grandiose event were: the Superfinal of the Chelyabinsk region
championship with participation of the strongest chess players, children's tournament,
session of simultaneous game on 250 chessboards, a blitz and mass tournaments
for all comers, the Cup of the head of Satka municipal district.
Many "stars" of the World chess games has visited chess tournaments
in Satka, such as: the World Champions - Boris Spasskiy, Anatoly Karpov, Nona
Gaprindashvily, famous grandmasters - Vicktor Korchnoy, Evgeny Bebchuck, Evgeny
Vasyukov, Evgeny Svesh-nikov, Ekaterina Lango and many others.
Prospects of sports infrastructure development
According to the Strategic plan for development of Satka municipal district,
development and construction of new sports objects is conducted.
Was developed a business plan of the mountain-skiing complex on Malchiha hill,
it will include mountain-skiing, snowboard and ski routs, and also biathlon
stadium.
Building of the health and fitness complex (Ice stadium) has been started in
September, 2006 at the initiative of Administration of Satka municipal district
and Group Magnezit shareholders.
According to the project, the Ice stadium will represent a semi-sphere on a
metal skeleton with fullmetal roof. The area of an ice cloth — 31x60 metres.
The platforms will be equipped for trainings of hockey players, skaters, classes
of a short-track and curling. Capacity of the complex is 1200-1500 sportsmen
a day. The same amount of seats on tribunes.
The opening of this sport object will allow to attract considerable quantity
of the district population to regular sport activities. With developed sports
infrastructure of the area is possible to 12 Olympic kins of sport to be navigated
all the year round, for training meetings of the Oral Federal Region and the
Chelyabinsk region team members.
