Tsimlyansk

There are no exact information about the foundation of Tsimlyansk. The city had been already mentioned several times in the historical documents in 1572 but only since 1592 it is mentioned officially.

The life of the first settlers was not easy. Tatars’ forays and floods in spring made the settlers often move from one place to another. In 1696 Tsimlyansk was located on the right bank of the river Don. At that time it looked like a small square with the earth embankment.

Step by step the inhabitants began to build stone houses instead of earth ones. Small settlement grew up. The main occupation of its inhabitants were cattle-breeding and farming. South warm climate created perfect conditions for viticulture. More than 30 thousand of vines grew in Tsimlyansk by the beginning of the 19th century.

Tzar Peter visited Tsimlyansk in April 1709.

Stanitsa Tsimlyanskaya became one of the biggest trade centers at the end of the 19th century. Famous fairs took place in this region annually. These fairs were visited by merchants from all parts of Russia.

Tsimlyansk is a perfect place for the vacations. There are all necessary conditions for the comfortable stay in Tsimlyansk: great ammount of sunny days, closeness to the sea and mineral springs.
