Established by the Hilalians, a Berber tribe zenete.Laghouat is an oasis far
from Algiers about A00 Kilometer; today is a very important & modern City.
Its successive stratums are presented to the patient visitors-The Berber Period
-Arabic-Turkish-French whom let the place to the new city established on 1962.
If the firsts testimonies (Ibn Khaldoun evoke a village are dated back to the
XI Century; in fact the city has flied of on XV century when Si Hadj Aissa became
the leader and invite the population on
the nearest villages to join this enclosure place. This period has been singed
especially on the poems of Ben Keriou which is a singer of Melhoum Rural Poetry
which is still appreciated till today.
A mosque which is the oldest Arabic Memorial in Algeria has been built on
his tomb which is still till today a place of pilgrimage.
